What's in Store for Your Coming Year?

What's in Store for Your Coming Year?
This is a simple little exercise to see what the coming year has in store for you. It begins on your birthday and ends on your birthday.the following year. Using Numerology you add the month and day of your birth and the current year. These you reduce to one number (if it adds up to more than 21) and then find the Major Arcana card that corresponds to it.

I'll do mine as an example.

Month: October = 10
Day: + 2
Year: + 2013
10 + 2 + 2013 = 27 = 9

So, for me 2013 - 2014 will be my "Year of the Hermit". And here's a description of the Hermit Tarot Card:

IX The Hermit:
Keywords: Accepting/offering wise counsel, Actions influenced by environment, Analysis of hopes & wishes, Balance, Being helped/helping, Being introspective, Blinded by outward appearances, Cautious approach, Centering, Concentrating less on the senses, Desiring a new direction, Desiring stillness, Destiny change, Discretion, Experiencing seclusion, Guidance given & received, Focus on your inner self, Foresight, Giving up distractions, Going on a personal quest, Going to/being a mentor, Guidance, Introspection, Inward focus, Knowledge from experiences, Learning from/being a guru, Looking for answers within, Looking for something, Mentors & Mentoring, Needing more, Needing solitude, Needing to be alone, Needing to understand, Period of reflection, Prudence, Quieting yourself, Receiving/giving guidance, Retreating into a private world, Searching, "Seek and ye shall find", Seeking greater understanding, Seeking solitude, Solitary quest, Soul searching, Stability, Teacher & Teaching, Thinking things over, Truth seeking, Turning to/being a trusted teacher, Wanting the truth at all costs, Wisdom, Withdrawal, Withdrawing from the world, You are your own teacher, You have the power to change your own destiny

The traditional hermit is a crusty, bearded character who has withdrawn from the company of men to live a life of seclusion and hardship. Card 9 supports this understanding. The Hermit represents the desire to turn away from the getting and spending of society to focus on the inner world. He seeks answers within and knows that they will come only with quiet and solitude.

There comes a point in life when we begin to question the obvious. We sense that there is a deeper reality and begin to search for it. This is mainly a solitary quest because answers do not lie in the external world, but in ourselves. The hermit on Card 9 reminds us of Diogenes, the Greek ascetic who is said to have gone out with a lantern in hand to search for an honest man. Diogenes is a symbol of the search for truth that the Hermit hopes to uncover by stripping away all diversions.

In readings, the Hermit often suggests a need for time alone - a period of reflection when distractions are limited. In times of action and high energy, he stands for the still center that must be created for balance. He can also indicate that withdrawal or retreat is advised for the moment. In addition, the Hermit can represent seeking of all kinds, especially for deeper understanding or the truth of a situation. "Seek, and ye shall find," we have been told, and so the Hermit stands for guidance as well. We can receive help from wise teachers, and, in turn, help others as we progress.

New knowledge needs to be assimilated, so take the necessary time to do so. Withdraw and reconsider your options through solitary introspection, finding inner peace and truth. Silence in the face of argument.

Use foresight to know your next move. Discretion in all things. Select associates wisely.

Strength acquired through experimentation. Stability leads to accomplishment. Foresight in humanitarian endeavors.

A cautious psychological approach. Know-how supports your endeavors.

So, it looks like my year will be filled with learning - both inward and outward. Inwardly, I have come to the realization that I have been a bit "lacking" the last few months. I'm assuming it's mainly due to our move and the state of unrest around here because of the amount of renovations we have to do. Lots of projects to complete!

Outward learning could be the fact that I am looking to take a few online classes. Time and funds will be the deciding factor there, of course.

The "teaching" part is interesting as I am working to expand my teaching and pick up more students through my newly set-up blog-school, A Witch's Craft, as well as promote my reference books, A Witch's Craft: Volumes 1 & 2.

If the teaching picks up, then the funds to take the classes will be there. So, maybe it will all work out after all!

Now, NEXT year's card will be X The Wheel of Fortune! THAT should be an awesome year for sure. This year must be setting up for the Wheel turning to bring it all into manifestation next year. I can't wait to see how it all comes about!  :)

Tarot and Corresponding Body Parts & Health Issues

Tarot and Corresponding Body Parts & Health Issues

There was a conversation being held on a Tarot group recently that posed the question regarding the associations of Tarot cards to health issues and parts of the body. The person asking was wanting to know how to interpret anything in a reading that may pertain to the querent's own health issues and if so, which cards would show which parts of the body are affected.

Myself and another person were the only ones with any specific answers to share, while the other answers were more along the lines of "meditate on it". I'm sorry, but when I have a question I would like answered, then I WANT AN ANSWER TO MY QUESTION. And "meditate on it" isn't an answer. If you don't have a definitive, tangible answer, then don't answer the question. Just wait for those who do to do so.

Anyway, off the soap-box now. The following is the information provided to answer the woman's question, and information you may wish to save to your own Tarot Journal for future reference:

Granny Tackett's Blog-Room Schoolhouse

Granny Tackett's Blog-Room Schoolhouse
I decided to set up a separate blog which will be specifically for teaching the Foundation of the Craft. Regardless of Tradition, whether Pagan or Christian-based (such as Hoodoo or Granny Magic or any other that uses the Bible or Psalms), the basic foundational knowledge is relatively the same.

There are 50 lessons in the Foundation of the Craft. These are very lengthy, very in-depth lessons, not a couple of paragraphs on each subject, but fully presented lessons. Each lesson is $5. When you go to the site, you will see there is a PayPal drop-down menu which will give 2 options: 1 lesson purchase or 5 lesson purchase. I will not permit more than 5 lessons to be purchased at a time, as I require that there be a minimum of 2 weeks between lessons. And each lesson has homework. No, not multiple choice, either. The homework will require complete, written out, paragraphs (most of them, but not all), and absolutely no "copy & paste" from the lesson. The answers must be your own thoughts in your own words.

And yes, this will be a mentored teaching. Do-it-yourself learning is great, but how do you know if you are truly grasping the knowledge presented if you don't have to do any homework? This provides the student the opportunity to express what they've learned, and to ask questions for further explanation of a subject or to present their own views. It's amazing how much I learn from my students as well!

I am also in the process of writing a series of lessons specifically for a class on Granny Magic. I will post a notice of it when I am ready to present them.

So, I hope you'll join me for a very in-depth learning so you'll have a strong Foundation for your Craft!

More Lunar Correspondences: Planting, Harvesting or Wildcrafting, & Tidal Correspondences

More Lunar Correspondences: Planting, Harvesting or Wildcrafting, & Tidal Correspondences

Gardening & Lunar Phase Correspondences
Up until a century or so ago, we used the seasons and the phases of the moon as our guides for planting, sowing and reaping of the harvest and the regular maintenance of livestock.  Today we use chemicals to increase productivity of the cow’s milk and the crop’s yield.  Modern science has done wonders but many of us just want a small garden for planting, sowing and reaping by Mother Nature’s own design. Here are a few pointers to get you started!

New Moon - First Quarter
Sow and tend hardy above ground plants, Best time for pruning & cutting
Broccoli, Cabbages, Cauliflower, Celery, Corn, Flowers, Grasses, Herbs, Lettuces, Spinach, Sprouts
First Quarter - Full Moon
Plant cane fruits and watery/fleshy fruits,
Sow vine plants
Beans, Cantaloupe, Cucumbers, Currants, Eggplant, Flowering Sweet Peas, Gooseberries, Grapes, Loganberries, Melons, Peas, Peppers, Raspberries, Runner Beans, Squash, Tomatoes
Full Moon - Last Quarter

large rooted plants
Beets, Bulbs, Carrots, Garlic, Irises, Onions, Peonies, Parsnips, Peanuts, Potatoes, Radishes, Root crops, Spring bulbs, Turnips

Harvesting or Wildcrafting:

Lunar Phase:

Banish negative energies
Miracles, Wish magick

Tidal Correspondences

The moon’s phase will also impact the spell’s intent in conjunction with the tidal phase, especially if doing any water magicks. So be sure to take both into consideration.

Spell Intents:
High - water at highest level
All types
Ebb - receding water level
Low - water at lowest level
Flow - rising water level
Bringing in, Manifestation
