Personal Lessons Offered

Personal Lessons Offered
I have been asked so many times over the years, most of which have been in the last few months, if I offered personal lessons. The answer is "yes", but it's difficult to set a particular time frame for them as I have a part time job at the local newspaper, I'm a board member of our new local farmers' market, and I make crafts to sell at the farmers' market on Saturdays.

But, I think it's time to set the time to offer these lessons. So, I am putting it out there to all y'all to ask several questions:

1) What day(s) work for you? (for me: Tuesday evenings, all day Wednesdays and Sundays)
2) What in particular do you want to learn? (be specific)
3) How long do you want each lesson to last? (i.e. would an hour be good or "as long as it takes"?)
4) Do you want physical materials (emailed lessons/information) as well or would your own notes be enough?
4) Give me YOUR ideas...

My fee is $25/hour with a 1 hour minimum. The lessons would be done via Skype and could be done individually or in conference with more than one student.

Please let me know what y'all think. I really do want to do this, so please email me:

grannytackett@yahoo.com or hoodoohillrootworksupply@gmail.com or via Facebook.

Willow Tree: Willow Knots, A Spell, & Correspondences

Willow Tree: Willow Knots, A Spell, & Correspondences

Willow trees are one of my favorite trees. I had planted 2 Curly Willows on our property in Kentucky and from several cuttings had planted several more. I hope the new owners will keep & protect & water them. I brought five 1 year old cuttings with us here to Kansas and all but one died. I have been babying it and if it makes it through the winter, then it will be fine. I would hate to lose it, especially as they are sooo easy to grow cuttings from, and I have plans to have several of them on this property, and several other species as well (I am missing my woods something awful!)

A natural Willow Knot
(I would love to find one of these!)

***
*I found this on a Facebook posting and love it, so I thought I'd share it with y'all. This is not mine, and the original source wasn't given for it either by the FB page I found it on.

There is an old belief among Gypsies that willow-knots (willow twigs that have naturally grown into a knot) are twined by fairy-folk, and to undo one invites bad luck.

To recover stolen goods, a Gypsy man will often tie a string around a willow-knot and say:

With this string I bind the thief ’s luck!

But if it is the love of a particular woman that he desires, he will cut the willow-knot and hold it in his mouth while, at the same time, turning his thoughts to the woman and reciting the following spoken charm:

I eat thy luck,
I drink thy luck,
Give me the luck of thine,
Then thou shall be mine.

To add even more power to the spell, the willow-knot should then be hidden in the desired woman’s bed without her knowledge of it.

Here is a beautiful poem about an old Willow tree:

There once was a Willow, and he was very old,
And all his leaves fell off from him, and left him in the cold;
But ere the rude winter could buffet him with snow,
There grew upon his hoary head a crop of mistletoe.
All wrinkled and furrowed was this old Willow's skin,
His taper finger trembled, and his arms were very thin;
Two round eyes and hollow, that stared but did not see;
And sprawling feet that never walked, had this most ancient tree.

STFU/Stop Gossip Beef Tongue Spell

STFU/Stop Gossip Beef Tongue Spell
This is one spell that I have been wanting to do for some time. Unfortunately I just haven't had the occasion to do so - yet. But regardless, I wanted to share what I've put together for when I do have the occasion to use it.

Materials & Ingredients:
Beef Tongue
Black String or Yarn
Heavy Gauge Needle
Brown Paper for Petition Paper
Seals of Solomon* (see list below)
Black Ink Pen
STFU/Stop Gossip Powder & Oil** (see recipe below)
9 Rusty Nails
9 Pins
9 Needles
Black Candle
Knife
Plate (preferably black or brown colored)

Preparations:
Petition Paper -
On the brown paper write the person's name 9 times, once per row, or 3 times per row if you prefer (I do). For example:

Name, Name, Name
Name, Name, Name
Name, Name, Name

Next, turn the paper to the left (counter-clockwise) and write over the name:

STFU!, STFU!, STFU!
STFU!, STFU!, STFU!
STFU!, STFU!, STFU!

Dab some of the STFU oil on the Petition Paper in the Quincunx Cross:

*      *
    *
*      *

Dust the Petition Paper with the STFU powder and fold it in half, away from you, turn to the left (counter clockwise) and fold away from you again, and then again one more time (3x's total).

Candle -
Dress the candle with the STFU oil & powder.
While dressing the candle, repeat words to have the person's tongue tied & bound from speaking gossip any longer. For example:

I tell you now halt your gossip, Halt it now!
As this tongue is tied, So is yours right now.
Never more to speak in ill,
Of me or others is my will.
Tied & bound is your tongue from now on,
Your gossip is stopped and forever gone.
STFU! is what I command,
Your silence I now demand.

Beef Tongue -
Place the tongue on the plate.
Slice a deep cut down the center line of the tongue.
Stuff the Petition Paper inside the slit.
Sprinkle the STFU powder into the slit.
Using the heavy gauge needle and the black string or yarn, tie the entire slice back together, sewing the Petition Paper & the STFU powder inside.
While sewing repeat your spell, or pray that your enemy's tongue be tied shut so they can no longer gossip or cause harm against you.
Rub the STFU oil all over the tied tongue.
Stick the 9 rusty nails, pins, and needles into the tongue.
Make a cut and insert the black candle into the cut so it will stand up on the tongue
Sprinkle the remainder of the STFU powder over the tongue.
While doing all of this be sure to be reciting your spell or prayer to stop your enemy from gossiping about you.
Light the candle and let it burn down completely.

Disposal -
There are several methods of disposal. Here is a list of a few (and you may even think of others):

Throw away - preferably in a dumpster away from your home
Bury - in a cemetery. Be sure to leave an offering of whiskey and a dime.
Cook - cook it and eat it, and while doing so see the person's will to gossip being crushed as you chew.
Pickle - place the tongue in a jar of vinegar and let pickle. This can be kept for a while, stored away in a cabinet, buried permanently, or thrown away in such a way that it will not be broken open. You want them to "stew" and "pickle" in their own mess.
Freeze - place the tongue in the freezer to aid in "freezing" their gossip. Keep it there as long as you feel is needed, and eventually throw it away some place where it will rot. Thus, you've frozen their tongue and then given them a "bad taste" in their mouth when/if they gossip again.

*********
*Seals of Solomon
1st Pentacle of Saturn - compel others to submit to the possessor's wishes & requests
4th Pentacle of Saturn - to impose their will upon others
7th Pentacle of Saturn - to make others listen and tremble before the words of the bearer
3rd Pentacle of Jupiter - defends & protects against any enemy
4th Pentacle of Mars - to bring victory or vindication in an argument or battle of any kind
6th Pentacle of Mars - the owner cannot be harmed, and if attacked, the enemy's weapon will turn against them (in this case their gossip)
1st Pentacle of the Sun - to bring the possessor all things they may desire

**STFU Powder
Sulfur (easiest method is to just scrape off the end of a matchstick)
Alum
Slippery Elm
Black Pepper
Cayenne Pepper
Chili Pepper Seeds

STFU Oil
STFU Powder
Virgin Olive Oil

Are You Crossed? How to Help Yourself

Are You Crossed? How to Help Yourself
I firmly believe in "do it yourself". I also firmly believe in not taking money from people just because I "can". Because I have an ability to do something they're convinced they don't. Well, I'm here to tell you that EVERYBODY has the ability, and the obligation, to protect themselves, their family, and their immediate environment (home, work space, car). It does not take a Witch, a Hoodoo, a rootworker, or any other person of any other "name" to do this for you. YOU are the one responsible for YOUR own self. Not us. We are here for the larger picture. The truly "out of your league" things. But simple day-to-day protection is YOUR responsibility. And I'm here to help you learn how.

So. Are You Really Crossed??

It is entirely possible, although most likely not. However, why not protect yourself in the off-chance that it is going on or could happen in the future?

First think of people who may have a reason (and for some people it could be any reason) to cause you irritations and/or harm. Also consider if there is anyone you may have slighted in any way. And again, for some people they just may only think they were slighted. Write down all the names you can think of in order of possibility from most likely to least likely. Burn this piece of paper and flush it down the toilet. They no longer "exist" for you and thus are no longer a worry.

Then you'll need to cleanse your environment. If may even just be the place you're living in, and not you in particular. But cleansing your environment and then yourself will repel it from you & your surroundings. To do this take an onion for each room of your house and place it there (as close to the middle of the room as possible, if you can, but so you won't step on it or it won't be in the way, otherwise on a table or counter or dresser is fine). Leave it for 3 days. It will gather the negative energy. Each day recite Psalm 52.

Psalm 52:
Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.

After the 3 days, then collect them - DO NOT TOUCH them - use gloves or something so your hands don't touch the onions. Place them in a bag and remove from your property completely. If possible bury them some place so Mother Earth can cleanse the negative energy into positive. Dig the hole (at least 12" deep) and dump the onions out of the bag and into the hole, then place the bag in the hole as well, covering the onions. Then cover all of it with the dirt that was dug out of the hole. Stomp the dirt down tight so it is not likely to wash away or anyone (or any animals) to step in it and hurt themselves (if it's in a place that this could be possible).

Next, place a lemon in each room - same as with the onion. Leave for 3 days and then remove as well. The onion removes negative energy and the lemon will cleanse and purify the now "empty" space. Do not bury the lemons anywhere near the onions. These can be buried on your property.

Each day of these 6 days take a cleansing shower/bath to remove the negative energy from yourself. SEE it washing down the drain.

FEEL yourself removed of all negativity while the onion is working, and then SEE yourself cleansed & purified while the lemon is working.

Recite these verses the entire time you're washing during the 3 days of the onion:

Psalm 52: 2-5 "The tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully. Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.

God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living."

Recite these verses the entire time you're washing during the 3 days of the lemon:

Psalm 26:6 "I wash my hands, Lord, to show my innocence, and to worship at your altar"

Psalm 51:7 "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me and I shall be whiter than snow".

To protect you & your environment after the negativity removing & the cleansing & purifying place a SATOR Square on each sill surrounding your windows & exterior-access doors (front door, back door, garage door - any door that opens to the outside) and on each mirror in the home. This is the SATOR Square:

S  A  T  O  R
A  R  E  P  O
T  E  N  E  T
O  P  E  R  A
R  O  T  A  S

If possible, place red brick dust and/or salt across each threshold into the house. Salt is probably easier to come by, but if you can get - or have - red bricks, pound some of them into dust to place across your doorways. And recite Psalm 23 (see below) as you do so. If you can remember to recite this Psalm each day, that would be great, but if not, at least when you think about it (life tends to get in the way, I know).

To protect yourself when you're outside your home, keep a piece of paper with the SATOR Square written on it in your wallet. IF you want, you can also make a Mojo bag to keep protective items in and with you at all times. Keep it in your pocket.

Take a small piece of cloth and place in it a pebble you find that draws you to pick it up, place salt, pepper, and basil in the cloth, along with the SATOR Square. Use string to tie the cloth around the pebble and the herbs. This is a simple Mojo bag that will help keep you protected. As you're making it recite:

Psalm 23
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever

 You can also add the Seals of Solomon to your Mojo bag or place them around your home. Look through the Seals here, clicking the links to read each lesson to find the ones that you feel would be the most beneficial to you. Be sure to read the "Introduction" lesson so you know how to activate the Seal(s) you've chosen.

These are all simple things you can do to keep yourself safe and protected inside and away from your home. I could tell you that you have to have someone else do all of this for you, but I'd be lying. YOU know best about your situation, no one else does. And it is YOU who can do the most to help yourself. Not someone else. The Lord helps those who help themselves. And I like helping those who don't know how, to teach them what to do so they do know how.

If you begin doing these things as part of your daily routine, then it becomes a part of your life, which in turn keeps you protected at all times. Yes, there are times when you may need something more, but for the average person this is more than enough.

I hope I haven't scared y'all off, and you'll see that you are more than capable of doing so much for yourself. Information is free, so learn all you can before jumping to spend money. It isn't always better to depend on someone else to that which you should be doing for yourself.

The Moon: Poems, Pictures, Spell Works, and Lunar Correspondences

The Moon: Poems, Pictures, and Lunar Correspondences
In Pagan belief systems the Moon's phase is very important in ritual & spell work. In the Judaic religions it is not important. In fact, it would be considered a non-issue. But yet, every scientist (and farmer & fisherman) will tell you that the Moon is very important to us here on Earth.

I'm not going to expound on anything scientific because I know nothing of the science. It was the only class I couldn't ace in school, and I haven't been in school (where science was required) in almost 35 years.

What I'm wanting to discuss is the links we here on Earth have with the Moon. It doesn't matter what geographical area it is on this planet, the Moon has held a fascination with every culture since the dawn of mankind.

We've danced & sang to her, we've worshiped her, we've written about her, and we even finally landed on her!

Ancient cultures were in awe and fear of the eclipses. Today, we still find them a beauty to behold, especially when we actually get to see the entire thing, and it's not on some other side of the planet where we can only watch on YouTube or pictures online after-the-fact.

For those who work in the magickal and employ the energies of the Moon, there are correspondences which correlate to each month's Lunar phases. This is what I want to share today.

Every culture noticed and attributed certain aspects to each month's Dark, New, & Full Moons. What is interesting is that regardless of what geographical area it was, Europe or Australia, these aspects remain constant. So, regardless of being in the Northern Hemisphere or the Southern Hemisphere, each culture saw the same aspects that correlated with that month's Moon phases. In the Southern Hemisphere, these aspects would be associated with the opposite month from that of the Northern Hemisphere, for example: April in the NH, and October in the SH. This shows that the season itself also holds a great deal of weight regarding each month's Lunar aspects.

Farmers have used the Moon's phases when planting crops. As a small home-gardener, I have planted seeds by the Moon's phases as well as just planted them whenever. The seeds planted according to the Moon's phases always do much better. They grow bigger, faster, and better veggies than when I don't. It's a little extra work to do it that way, but it's the only way I'll do it now. I highly recommend Gardening by the Moon!

Fishermen know that the best time for a good catch is during the Full Moon phase. The seas are higher as well, so I say, have a great time. I'll stay right here in the middle of the country! I am not an ocean lover. Or fishing either, for that matter. Love to eat fish, but I'll leave the "fishing" part to someone else. :)

There have been poems written about and to the Moon for centuries. Here are 3 from some very famous poets:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
From "Ode to the Glory of God" (1712)
Soon as the evening shades prevail,
The Moon takes up the wondrous tale,
And nightly to the listening
Earth Repeats the story of her birth:
Whilst all the stars that round her burn,
And all the planets, in their turn,
Confirm the tidings as they roll,
And spread the truth from pole to pole.
Joseph Addison
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Moon(1913)
The moon has a face like the clock in the hall; She shines on thieves on the garden wall, On streets and fields and harbour quays, And birdies asleep in the forks of the trees.
The squalling cat and the squeaking mouse, The howling dog by the door of the house, The bat that lies in bed at noon, All love to be out by the light of the moon.
But all of the things that belong to the day, Cuddle to sleep to be out of her way; And flowers and children close their eyes Till up in the morning the sun shall arise.
To the Moon Greeting to you, gem of the night! Beauty of the skies, gem of the night! Mother of the stars, gem of the night! Foster-child of the sun, gem of the night! Majesty of the stars, gem of the night! -Scottish Gaelic, traditional folk prayer.

Robert Louis Stevenson

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nature (1924)
The moon was but a chin of gold
A night or two ago,
And now she turns her perfect face
Upon the world below.
Her forehead is of amplest blond;
Her cheek like beryl stone;
Her eye unto the summer dew
The likest I have known.
Her lips of amber never part;
But what must be the smile
Upon her friend she could bestow
Were such her silver will!
And what a privilege to be
But the remotest star!
For certainly her way might pass
Beside your twinkling door.
Her bonnet is the firmament,
The universe her shoe,
The stars the trinkets at her belt,
Her dimities of blue.
Emily Dickinson
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I prefer the old masters to the new wanna-be's. Today's "poets" just don't have the ability to use words or have a grasp of language to express things the way they used to. But that's just my opinion. I'm a poet myself, and I know for a fact, that my works don't hold a candle to the old masters.
